Kurt Warner

Kurt Warner

Kurt Warner is the quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals in the National Football League. He captured the imagination of the sports world in 1999 when he defied the odds by emerging from obscurity to lead the St. Louis Rams to a victory in Super Bowl XXXIV. In that same year, Kurt was named the NFL and Super Bowl Most Valuable Player and stood out as the spiritual leader of the championship team.

His journey to NFL stardom was unconventional. Cut by the Green Bay Packers after the 1994 training camp, Kurt played for the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena Football League from 1995 to 1997, where he earned all-Arena honors. The Rams signed Warner in December 1997 and assigned him to the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe in 1998.

In 1999, Kurt was thrust into the spotlight. During that season, he became a dominant force in the NFL, leading the Rams to three consecutive playoff appearances—including two Super Bowls—and receiving Pro Bowl honors for three consecutive years (1999-2001). He is also one of a few NFL players to be recognized with two NFL MVP awards, receiving his second after the 2001 season.

Kurt was released by the Rams in 2004 and signed a one year contract with the New York Giants. The following year he was signed by the Arizona Cardinals, where in 2007 he logged the highest passer rating of any Cardinals quarterback since the team’s move to Arizona.

Off the field, Kurt and his family have been extremely involved in reaching out to others in the community. In 2001, he and his wife, Brenda, founded First Things First, a nonprofit public charity dedicated to impacting lives by promoting Christian values, sharing experiences and providing opportunities.

First Things First has reached thousands of children and their families in Missouri, Iowa, New York and Arizona through innovative outreaches including their yearly coat drive, visits to children’s hospitals, scholarship funds and many other events.

In addition, Kurt frequently speaks at conferences and seminars, sharing his personal testimony and encouraging others that all things are possible when they put God first.

Kurt and Brenda Warner currently live in Arizona with their children, Zachary, Jesse Jo, Kade, Jada Jo, Elijah, and twins Sienna and Sierra.
